Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has accused the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of making statements that undermine the country’s security, warning that such rhetoric could destabilize national unity.
Speaking to reporters in Lahore, Asif rejected what he described as attempts to enforce a so-called “Niazi Law,” referring to policies associated with the former prime minister’s political movement.
> “It is not possible to implement the Niazi Law on everything. Pakistan will not function if this happens,” he said. “The statements coming from the Chief Minister are disappointing and hostile towards Pakistan.”
Asif alleged that the provincial leadership was trying to hold meetings that allowed “a person sitting inside” — a veiled reference to the imprisoned former leader — to issue instructions to government officials.
The minister said the federal government would not allow any parallel system to operate under the “Niazi Law” framework in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
