Lahore, Pakistan — Provincial Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken decisive steps to end land encroachment across Punjab, claiming that the new property ordinance permanently blocks the activities of land-grabbing groups.
Speaking to reporters in Lahore, Bukhari said that for decades, land encroachment cases remained unresolved in courts for up to 40 years, but under the new ordinance, decisions will now be made within 90 days.
“The Chief Minister is building Punjab’s system on the concept of ‘Riyasat Hogi Maa’ — a state that protects its people like a mother,” Bukhari said, adding that protecting citizens’ rights, ensuring justice, and supporting vulnerable groups were top priorities of the government.
The minister emphasized that no individual or group would be allowed to engage in illegal activities, display weapons, or spread fear among citizens. She said that under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, Punjab has introduced a new model of governance and development that could serve as an example for other provinces.
Bukhari added that the Chief Minister is launching new development projects daily to improve public welfare and ensure merit, transparency, and efficient use of resources throughout the province.
