LAHORE: Chairman Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Muazzam Iqbal Sipra chaired a high-level departmental meeting to review enforcement, registration, and recovery performance across the province.
The meeting was briefed on the initiative to restrict provincial and federal departments from issuing licenses to businesses that are not registered with the PRA. The Chairman also reviewed proposed amendments to existing tax laws and directed the Legal Wing to send a summary to the Law Department for approval.
Sector-wise recovery targets were presented, and officers were assigned specific goals to ensure recovery from 11 newly identified sectors by November 14. Chairman Sipra instructed the concerned wings to upgrade the monitoring dashboard for real-time tracking of registered businesses and tax records across Punjab. He also directed the organization of online training sessions to enhance the capacity and efficiency of divisional enforcement officers.
Emphasizing accountability, Chairman Sipra said the recovery campaign would be intensified against businesses that collect tax from consumers but fail to deposit it in the government treasury. He ordered strict action, including sealing of business points, in cases of undue delay or non-payment of due taxes.
Reiterating his commitment to transparency, the Chairman urged all business operators to ensure the use of the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (e-IMS) for accurate and verifiable tax collection. He also encouraged consumers to prefer credit or debit card payments for services to ensure transparency and proper documentation of all taxable transactions.
