LAHORE, Pakistan, Nov 6, 2025: Punjab Minister for Law Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan inaugurated the Lahore Pilot Project of the Directorate of Monitoring and Evaluation (DME) — a key component of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s flagship Digital Governance Program — at the Law Department on Thursday.
The ceremony was attended by Parliamentary Secretary Ahmed Nawaz Ranjha, Chairman Standing Committee and MPA Malik Nosher Langrial, Secretary Law Asif Bilal Lodhi, and Secretary Housing Noor ul Amin Mengal, among others.
During the briefing, Secretary Law Asif Bilal Lodhi informed the minister that the DME, established in January 2025 following the dissolution of the Solicitor Department, aims to ensure efficient management of government litigation, strengthen oversight of District Attorney Offices, improve financial transparency, and enhance the capacity of law officers through training and monitoring mechanisms.
The province-wide rollout of the DME system will be completed in six phases, starting with the Lahore Division (Oct–Nov 2025) and expanding to all divisions by May 2026, when the system becomes fully operational across Punjab.
Representatives from the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) briefed the minister on the development of an AI-based Litigation Management System for the provincial government. The digital platform includes modules for law officer profiling and performance tracking, mobile applications for departments, real-time dashboards, analytical reporting, biometric attendance, geo-tagged monitoring, and automated alerts — all designed to enhance transparency and accountability.
Speaking on the occasion, Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan said the initiative reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to modernizing the legal and justice systems through digital innovation.
> “Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the establishment of the DME marks a new era of transparency, accountability, and technological transformation in Punjab’s governance,” he said.
He added that the AI-powered system will revolutionize case tracking and performance evaluation, strengthen institutional efficiency, and promote data-driven decision-making across the province.
The minister commended the Law Department and PITB teams for their efforts, expressing confidence that the initiative would help transform Punjab into a digitally empowered and transparent province, fully aligned with the principles of the rule of law.
Among those present were District Attorney Lahore, Law Officers, Additional Director Shahid Jutt, PITB representatives, and senior officials of the Law Department.
