Lahore (Pakistan) — Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren has said that China’s ongoing reforms and expanding engagement with global markets will create fresh opportunities for Pakistani entrepreneurs, particularly under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
He made these remarks while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Chinese Language Course organized by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI). Zhao underscored the growing importance of the Chinese language for Pakistan’s business community, noting that linguistic and cultural understanding plays a vital role in strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.
LCCI President Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol, in his welcome address, said that the Chamber is committed to empowering its members through value-added initiatives that go beyond traditional trade functions. “Foreign language skills are essential for building stronger business relationships and unlocking international opportunities,” he said.
He added that over 110 members had successfully completed the two-month program, reflecting a high level of interest among local entrepreneurs in expanding their communication and business skills. Senior Vice President Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh, Vice President Khurram Lodhi, and members of the Executive Committee were also present at the event.
In his remarks, Consul General Zhao Shiren congratulated the graduates, emphasizing that learning Chinese is not merely about communication, but also about connection — a bridge to culture, commerce, and collaboration. Referring to the 4th Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee in Beijing, Zhao highlighted that China’s comprehensive reform agenda aims to enhance openness and international cooperation, offering new openings for Pakistan’s private sector.
He urged LCCI members to remain actively engaged with China’s evolving economic landscape and to leverage bilateral initiatives for shared growth.
President Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol concluded by expressing optimism that such programs would continue and expand, enabling more business professionals to gain global competencies. He reaffirmed that LCCI will keep introducing training initiatives that strengthen Pakistan-China economic ties and help local businesses thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates to the participants.
