The Federal Judicial Complex in Islamabad has reopened today, two days after a deadly suicide bombing outside the G-11 courthouse that killed 12 people and injured 38 others.
Lawyers and petitioners have begun returning to the courthouse amid heightened security measures enforced by local authorities. Entry is being strictly regulated — lawyers’ clerks are required to present official identification cards, while visitors undergo security checks and registration before being allowed inside.
Security agencies continue to investigate the bombing, having collected all necessary evidence from the crime scene.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad Bar Association has announced a two-day strike and a boycott of court proceedings in protest against the attack and to demand improved security for the legal community.
The suicide bombing targeted a police vehicle outside the G-11 courthouse on Tuesday, leaving several officers among the casualties. Authorities have recovered the head of the suspected bomber from the site as part of ongoing forensic investigations.
