In Pakistan’s Punjab province, the police force marked a significant step in its ongoing institutional strengthening efforts as a promotion ceremony was held at the Central Police Office (CPO) in Lahore. The event, organized on the directives of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, formally conferred the rank of Inspector upon 38 officers who had successfully cleared the Punjab Public Service Commission examination. The ceremony was attended by a large gathering of families, including parents and children of the promoted officers.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar highlighted the department’s accelerated promotion process, revealing that seven promotion boards were convened this year alone for the elevation of officers from Sub-Inspector to Inspector—resulting in 1,047 promotions. Over the past three and a half years, a total of 27 promotion boards were conducted, promoting 3,456 officers to the Inspector rank.
Addressing the newly appointed Inspectors, Dr. Anwar emphasized the importance of upholding public trust through professional conduct, fair handling of citizens’ complaints, and efficient delivery of justice. He urged Station House Officers (SHOs) to transform police stations into citizen-friendly spaces by improving the environment, ensuring respectful interaction, and enhancing services provided at Police Service Centers.
The ceremony was attended by senior police officials, including Additional IG Punjab Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, DIG Establishment-I Suleman Sultan Rana, DIG Establishment-II Captain (R) Liaquat Ali Malik, AIG Discipline, SP Dolphin, and ASPs.
