LAHORE, PAKISTAN: On the special instructions of Ms. Yasmin Fatima, Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, RTO Gujranwala, two teams of the IREN Squad conducted weekly inspections of retail shops selling illegal and non-duty/tax-paid cigarettes.
On November 12, 2025, the teams raided over 30 retail shops and recovered 15 cartons (187,500 sticks) of locally and foreign-manufactured cigarettes that did not bear tax barcode stickers. The confiscated goods have been transferred to FBR RTO Gujranwala for further legal action.
Chief Commissioner Dr. Yasmin Fatima highly praised the IREN Squad for their enforcement efforts and warned that anyone involved in illegal cigarette trade will face strict action without exception.
This operation is part of the ongoing crackdown on tax evasion and illegal trading practices to ensure compliance with Pakistan’s tax laws and protect public revenue.
