The Superintendent of Adiala Jail on Wednesday strongly dismissed media reports—circulated primarily by Indian outlets—claiming that former Prime Minister Imran Khan had passed away in custody.
Speaking to the media, the Superintendent said he was “thankful to Indian media for informing the jail administration” about the rumor, adding that several Pakistani journalists had also contacted him to verify the claim.
“I have checked. God forbid, there is no such thing,” he said, firmly rejecting the reports.
He added: “I pray for his continued good health. I am stating with full responsibility that, Alhamdulillah, he is completely healthy.”
The Superintendent further said that the Punjab Prisons Department is accountable to international media and that an official press release would be issued shortly.
