LAHORE, Pakistan — The Inland Revenue Enforcement Network (IREN) teams of Regional Tax Office (RTO) Gujranwala have carried out a coordinated crackdown on the sale of illicit cigarettes across Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Wazirabad districts.
A team from the Provincial Excise & Taxation Office, Gujranwala City, also participated in the enforcement action.
According to officials, the joint raids targeted retail outlets involved in selling non-duty and non-tax-paid cigarettes. During the operation, authorities recovered 30 cartons of illicit cigarettes that lacked mandatory tax bar code stickers.
The seized stock included a mix of local and foreign-origin brands such as Mond, Milano, Pine, L&M, Café, Kissan, Melburn, and Fedora.
The confiscated cigarettes have been transferred to RTO Gujranwala for further legal proceedings and enforcement under the relevant tax and excise laws.
