Islamabad — Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has failed to meet its tax collection target for November, recording a significant shortfall amid ongoing fiscal pressures.
According to official data, the FBR collected Rs 878 billion against the monthly target of Rs 1,034 billion, resulting in a shortfall of Rs 156 billion. The gap has raised concerns over the government’s ability to meet broader revenue goals set under economic stabilisation commitments.
For December, the FBR faces an even more ambitious challenge, with a revised tax collection target of Rs 1,406 billion — one of the highest monthly targets in the fiscal year.
Economic analysts warn that persistent shortfalls may increase pressure on the government to introduce additional revenue measures in the coming months.
