Punjab Police remained on high alert across the province on Sunday, ensuring stringent security arrangements for Christian worship and prayer services in churches, following directives issued by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar.
The IG had earlier instructed all Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to bolster church security and personally inspect arrangements at sensitive sites. Additional police units, including snipers, were deployed at high-risk churches, while Dolphin Squad, PRU and Elite Force teams intensified patrolling in surrounding areas.
Dr. Anwar directed officers to stay vigilant, monitor suspicious activity closely and continue search-and-sweep operations around churches, Christian neighbourhoods and other vulnerable locations to ensure public safety.
He also emphasized the importance of interfaith harmony, urging religious scholars, Christian community representatives and local peace committees to work together to promote unity and maintain communal peace.
