LAHORE — A delegation of the Kattar Band Industrial Association met with Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) President Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol and Senior Vice President Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh to discuss the severe challenges faced by industries operating in the Kattar Band Road vicinity.
The delegation was led by Dr. Waseem, President of the Kattar Band Industrial Association, and included Patron-in-Chief Mian Nawaz, Ch. Muhammad Yousaf, Sheikh Muhammad Khalid, Mian Yousaf, and several prominent industrialists. Former LCCI President Muhammad Ali Mian and Executive Committee Members Rana Nisar and Imran Saleemi also participated in the meeting.
Industrial representatives highlighted a series of critical issues affecting production and operations. These include restrictions on industrial gas connections, frequent gas and electricity load-shedding, incomplete WASA projects contributing to unreliable water supply, widespread encroachments, and poor sanitation conditions.
The delegation stressed that the suspension of industrial gas connections has severely disrupted business operations, resulting in unstable production cycles. They further noted that unannounced electricity outages, with no load-shedding schedule provided, have caused significant production losses.
Industry leaders also raised concerns about the deteriorating condition of Kattar Band Road, persistent traffic congestion, and poor infrastructure, all of which are increasing production costs and reducing efficiency. They added that incomplete WASA development works and inadequate cleanliness are worsening the overall environment in the industrial area.
LCCI President Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol assured the delegation that the Chamber is actively advocating for the business community. He noted that LCCI successfully secured two extensions in the income tax return filing deadline and is now engaging with the government to further extend the e-filing date. He reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to closely monitoring and addressing issues related to traders and industrialists.
Industrialists emphasized that the lack of essential facilities in Kattar Band Road and other industrial zones is harming industrial growth and negatively impacting the national economy. They urged the government to take immediate and practical measures to support the business sector.
Reiterating LCCI’s resolve, President Saigol stated that the Chamber is dedicated to resolving all challenges—whether related to electricity, gas, water, sanitation, or taxation—and will continue to pursue every available legal and governmental channel to improve the industrial environment.
