Addressing the conference, the Minister acknowledged that while millions of lives have improved since 2015, the current pace of progress remains insufficient to meet all SDGs within the next five years. He called for extraordinary commitment, collective action, and strong partnerships to bridge the remaining gaps.
Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan highlighted key achievements noted in the report, including:
Expanded access to education
Improved maternal and child health
Significant reduction in infectious diseases
Rapid growth in renewable energy
He praised success stories such as universal electricity access in 45 countries and the elimination of neglected tropical diseases in 54 nations, stating these examples demonstrate that accelerated development is achievable when strategy, resources, and political will align.
The Minister reiterated that sustained financial investment, strong partnerships, and international cooperation are essential to turning the 2030 Agenda into reality. He also reaffirmed Punjab’s commitment to sustainable, inclusive, and equitable development, emphasizing that the government aims to deliver progress to every citizen, ensuring that no one is left behind.
