Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has sharply criticized the 12-year Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying the province has been left in ruins due to prolonged mismanagement. She also addressed the recent victory of PML-N in Haripur, attributing it to the failures of the previous administration.
Speaking at a public event, CM Maryam Nawaz said:
The former KP government focused its attention on attacking Punjab rather than provincial development, leaving the province “khandar” (in ruins).
The previous CM of KP allegedly spent four years without significant development, while the new CM operates with the full machinery of the state outside Adiala.
The Haripur election result reflected the consequences of administrative incompetence.
On Punjab’s development record, she emphasized:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently laid the foundation for a mass transit project in Gujranwala.
The Metro Bus service in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan is part of the legacy of Nawaz Sharif, and two additional metro services are planned this year.
Infrastructure projects across Punjab bear the names of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif, demonstrating sustained commitment to development.
Over 120,000 homes are under construction, with thousands already completed in the past eight months. Four thousand plots are being allocated through lotteries to those without property.
Maryam Nawaz also dismissed criticism over fiscal management, saying that after a year and a half, claims of defaults have been forgotten, and that those who ruled for four years previously had only made excuses about the country’s financial situation.
The CM highlighted her personal commitment to social welfare, stating that she often loses sleep worrying about citizens lacking access to education and healthcare.
This statement reflects the PML-N’s continued emphasis on infrastructure, social housing, and governance achievements in contrast to the opposition’s performance in KP.
