LAHORE: The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,308 road traffic crashes across all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. These incidents resulted in 11 fatalities and 1,550 injuries.
According to the ESD, 691 seriously injured individuals were shifted to various hospitals, while 859 victims with minor injuries were treated on the spot by Rescue Medical Teams, helping reduce the burden on hospitals.
The report revealed that 75% of the crashes involved motorbikes, highlighting the urgent need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and lane discipline to curb the rising number of road accidents.
Breakdown of Victims:
785 drivers
50 underage drivers
198 pedestrians
578 passengers
District-wise Data:
Lahore topped the list with 241 crashes affecting 298 people.
Faisalabad followed with 70 crashes and 88 victims.
Multan ranked third with 66 crashes and 71 victims.
A total of 1,561 individuals were affected, including 1,209 males and 352 females. Age-wise distribution shows:
274 victims under 18,
842 between 18 and 40,
445 above 40 years of age.
Vehicles involved included:
1,195 motorbikes
109 auto-rickshaws
170 cars
33 vans
11 passenger buses
24 trucks
143 other vehicles, including slow-moving carts.
The increasing number of road traffic crashes across Punjab continues to pose a serious challenge, prompting calls for tighter enforcement of traffic regulations and comprehensive road safety awareness campaigns.
