Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement–Pakistan (MQM-P) leader and Member of the National Assembly Farooq Sattar has sharply criticized the Sindh government, alleging that a “state within a state” was created on Karachi’s major roads during Sindhi Culture Day celebrations on December 7.
Addressing the media, Sattar said that public order was violated under the banner of cultural celebrations, and claimed that the events amounted to the establishment of a “Sindhu Desh” for a day. He alleged that several people were injured during violent clashes and that police officers were attacked when they attempted to intervene.
He added that the cases registered after the incident include charges of terrorism, attempted murder, and other serious offences.
Sattar also criticized the provincial government’s response, saying that the Sindh administration—known for issuing statements on minor matters—remained silent on the episode. He further claimed that the judiciary appeared lenient towards suspects, alleging that courts “practically defended the accused” and that most of those arrested were released.
