ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan is considering the transfer of former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan (Prisoner No. 804) from Adiala Jail to another detention facility, amid intensifying political tensions. The announcement was made by Ikhtiar Wali Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Information and KP Affairs, during a press conference in Islamabad.
Ikhtiar Wali Khan said the PTI is “operating on an agenda to destabilize the country,” alleging that the party is attempting to incite unrest under the guise of protest. He stated that the government is now “seriously evaluating” relocating Imran Khan due to recurring disruptions around Adiala and Rawalpindi caused by PTI mobilization.
The coordinator declared that all channels of dialogue with Imran Khan’s party are now closed, adding that a clear line has been drawn between “Ishq-e-Pakistan and Ishq-e-Imran.”
He accused the PTI of attacking the same military “that has earned global respect for Pakistan,” and said the party’s recent statements and online activities reflect a pattern of escalating hostility. According to him, PTI failed to attract a significant crowd to its Peshawar rally despite mobilizing supporters nationwide.
Ikhtiar Wali Khan further alleged that PTI has been “using terrorism as a political tool,” claiming that the party’s behaviour mirrors that of militant outfits due to repeated verbal attacks on the military and judiciary. He added that the party has been unable to build even a single major project—such as a university or hospital—during its 13-year rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He questioned why PTI leaders themselves are not retweeting Imran Khan’s recent posts, calling it evidence of internal disarray. He held the party responsible for incidents such as May 9 and November 26, saying these events inflicted severe damage on the country.
In a strong critique of PTI’s record, Ikhtiar Wali Khan said, “They were introduced in 2013 and imposed on the nation in 2018.” He also claimed that PTI’s social media operations are being run from India and Israel, with Indian media amplifying narratives pushed by Imran Khan’s family.
The coordinator rejected the idea of imposing Governor’s Rule, saying democratic forces do not favour such measures, but warned that the government will take “every necessary step” to ensure public safety.
Addressing weekly protests outside Adiala Jail, he said the disruptions to local residents—including school-going children—cannot be tolerated indefinitely. He hinted that the constant mobilization by PTI might result in Imran Khan’s transfer to a jail in another province.
Concluding his remarks, Ikhtiar Wali Khan stated:
“Our choice is Pakistan. Pakistan will always live on.”
