RAWALPINDI, December 11, 2025 — Pakistan’s military has announced that former Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed has been sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment after being found guilty on multiple charges following a 15-month-long Field General Court Martial (FGCM).
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the FGCM proceedings, initiated on August 12, 2024, tried the former three-star general on four charges:
— Engaging in political activities,
— Violating the Official Secrets Act in a manner deemed detrimental to state security,
— Misusing authority and government resources, and
— Causing wrongful loss to individuals.
After what the military described as “lengthy and laborious legal proceedings,” the court found Hameed guilty on all counts. The sentence was formally promulgated on December 11, 2025.
The ISPR further stated that all legal procedures were followed, and the accused was provided full legal rights, including the right to be represented by a defence team of his choice. He also retains the right to appeal the verdict at the relevant appellate forum.
The statement added that his alleged involvement in “fomenting political agitation and instability” in collaboration with political elements, along with other related matters, is being addressed separately.
