LAHORE – The government’s decision to allow the celebration of the Basant festival has been welcomed by interfaith and community leaders in Punjab.
Senior Vice President of the National Peace Committee for Interfaith Harmony Punjab, Sadaqat Majeed, praised the festival, describing it as “a wonderful tradition” historically celebrated with great enthusiasm. He emphasized that safety must be the top priority, with strict enforcement of regulations such as the ban on metal kite strings.
Majeed called on the police and district authorities to ensure public safety during the celebrations. He also announced that the Peace Committee will organize workshops to promote awareness and discuss precautionary measures, fostering cooperation between the public and government institutions.
