Rawalpindi: Pakistan’s security forces killed at least 13 militants in two separate intelligence-based operations carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on December 12 and 13, the military’s media wing said on Saturday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted following credible intelligence regarding the presence of militants belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij in different areas of the province.
The ISPR said that in the first operation, carried out in Mohmand district, security forces engaged the militants after receiving intelligence about their location. During a heavy exchange of fire, seven militants were killed.
In a separate operation in Bannu district, security forces killed six more militants. A large quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the militants during the operation, the statement added.
The military said that sanitisation operations are ongoing in the affected areas to eliminate any remaining militants and ensure security. The ISPR reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces remain committed to eradicating foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
