Washington/Kabul: Claims by the Afghan Taliban that military equipment, including warplanes and armored vehicles, is being manufactured at Afghanistan’s Bagram Airbase have been contradicted by an investigation published in a US magazine.
According to the report, analysis of recent satellite imagery and available evidence shows no indication of aircraft or armored vehicle production at the former US military base. Defense experts cited by the magazine said the infrastructure and activity visible at Bagram do not support the Taliban’s assertions.
The report adds that while the airbase remains symbolically significant, there is no verified proof of advanced military manufacturing taking place there. Analysts warn that such claims may be aimed at projecting strength rather than reflecting ground realities.
