LAHORE: The Punjab University Centre for Clinical Psychology (CCP), in collaboration with the Pakistan Association of Clinical Psychologists (PACP), organised a three-day professional training workshop on Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for practicing clinical psychologists.
The workshop was attended by CCP Director Prof. Dr Saima Dawood, EMDR practitioner from the United Kingdom Dr Ali Akbar Mansoor, clinical psychologists, faculty members and students. Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Muhammad Ali praised the organisers for arranging a specialised training programme aimed at strengthening professional capacities in mental health care.
Speaking at the event, the vice chancellor highlighted the growing importance of psychology as a discipline, noting that psychologists play a vital role in promoting individual and societal well-being.
Dr Mansoor, an experienced mental health professional, shared his clinical expertise in trauma-focused interventions, focusing on the theoretical foundations, standard protocols and practical applications of EMDR therapy.
Prof. Dr Saima Dawood said the CCP continues to collaborate with national and international experts to provide high-quality training opportunities for mental health professionals, with the aim of improving trauma-informed care and mental health services in Pakistan.
She added that the workshop was designed to enhance the professional competencies of clinical psychologists in addressing trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related psychological conditions. Participants received hands-on training through interactive lectures, case discussions, live demonstrations and supervised practice within an ethical and evidence-based framework.
