LAHORE: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has directed all Station House Officers (SHOs) across the province to remain present at their respective police stations daily between 3:00pm and 5:00pm to personally hear and resolve citizens’ complaints.
The directive was issued during a high-level meeting held at the Central Police Office (CPO) Lahore, chaired by the IGP, to review the performance and operational standards of Special Initiative Police Stations and Police Khidmat Centres.
The meeting was attended by DIG Research and Development Fawad-ud-Din Riaz and Additional Inspector General (AIG) Complaints Ahmad Mohi-ud-Din. Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sheikhupura DIG Athar Ismail Amjad and Deputy Commandant Police College Sheikhupura Syed Muhammad Ameen Bukhari participated via video link.
During the meeting, Dr Usman Anwar directed police authorities in Sheikhupura, Kasur, and Nankana Sahib to ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness, and functional readiness of all Special Initiative Police Stations and Khidmat Centres. He emphasized that IT systems must remain fully operational, biometric attendance of staff strictly enforced, and official records securely maintained.
The IGP stressed that effective public service delivery and transparency remain key priorities of the Punjab Police. He said designated complaint-hearing hours would help strengthen public trust and ensure swift redressal of grievances.
The meeting also reviewed facilities at Traffic Licensing and Driving Centres. Dr Usman Anwar instructed officers to further improve service standards and accelerate public awareness campaigns on amended traffic laws to ensure effective compliance across the province.
Police officials said the measures are part of broader reforms aimed at improving citizen-centric policing and service delivery in Punjab.
