LAHORE: On the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, a dignified ceremony was held at the Central Police Office to affix promotion ranks to officers elevated to the rank of Inspector.
During the ceremony, IG Punjab affixed Inspector rank badges to 67 promoted officers from the Faisalabad and Gujranwala regions. A large number of parents, children, and family members of the promoted officers attended the event. Senior police officers joined the IG in congratulating the newly promoted Inspectors and their families.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Usman Anwar expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her patronage and confidence in the Punjab Police. He announced that 1,000 additional posts are being introduced in the Crime Control Department (CCD), with an officer of Superintendent of Police (SP) rank to head the department in every district. He added that the establishment of a Cyber Crime Department would also create hundreds of new posts, opening further avenues for promotions.
The IG Punjab said that due to effective enforcement of laws, citizens are increasingly acknowledging the improved performance of the traffic police. He noted that the helmet-wearing rate among motorcyclists has reached 100 percent, while a 900 percent increase has been recorded in the issuance of driving licences.
Dr. Usman Anwar directed Station House Officers (SHOs) to further improve complainants’ access to police stations, ensure fair hearings, make correct decisions, and enhance overall public service delivery. He stressed that immediate and effective relief must be provided to citizens at police stations, checkpoints, on roads through traffic enforcement, at Khidmat Markaz facilities, and to callers of the police emergency helpline 15.
The IG Punjab also instructed officers to ensure effective use of modern policing applications, including Artificial Intelligence-based systems, Smart Eye, Travel Eye, and e-Gadget. He reaffirmed that a strict crackdown on terrorists, thieves, robbers, drug peddlers, and elements involved in violence against women and children would continue without compromise.
Additional IG Welfare and Finance Imran Arshad, DIG Headquarters Dr. Muhammad Abid Khan, DIG Welfare and Finance Zeeshan Asghar, RPO Sargodha Shahzad Asif, along with AIGs and ASPs, were also present at the ceremony.
