LAHORE: In a landmark initiative combining education, security, and technology, the Layyah Police have formally launched a state-of-the-art “Panic Button” system across public and private educational institutions in the district to ensure swift police response during emergencies.
The initiative, led by District Police Officer (DPO) Layyah Hassan Javed Bhatti, aligns with the broader vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Inspector General of Police Punjab to enhance security in educational environments through modern policing tools.
According to the DPO, the Panic Button system is not merely an alarm mechanism but a symbol of parental trust, child safety, and proactive policing. Once activated, it instantly alerts the police, rescue services, the Child Protection Unit, and other emergency responders, enabling immediate action in critical situations.
Layyah has become the first district in Punjab to integrate the Panic Button system not only with educational institutions but also with child protection mechanisms and blood banking services. This integrated digital platform allows for the rapid recovery of missing children, timely availability of blood for injured victims, and coordinated emergency medical assistance.
Police officials said advanced technology is also being utilized to further enhance the recovery process of missing children. In addition to the system’s installation, awareness and training sessions have been conducted for students, teachers, and school administrations to ensure effective use of the Panic Button and strict adherence to security protocols.
District police authorities believe the initiative will significantly strengthen parental confidence and provide a safer learning environment for students. The Layyah Police described the project as a model of modern, responsible, and community-friendly policing, setting a benchmark for other districts across Punjab.
The launch marks a decisive step toward transforming school safety through innovation—where education, protection, and technology converge.
