LAHORE — Punjab University (PU) will organise Pakistan’s largest three-day annual book fair from January 29 to 31, 2026, at its New Campus, under the auspices of the university administration.
The announcement was made by the PU administration following the approval of the event by Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Ali. On the directives of the Vice Chancellor, a committee headed by Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Mahmood has been constituted to oversee and complete arrangements for the book fair.
In this regard, a preparatory meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood to review organisational and logistical arrangements. The meeting was attended by Registrar Dr. Ahmad Islam, Acting Chief Librarian Muhammad Asif Khan, Director General Rehan Sadiq, and other concerned officials. During the meeting, various responsibilities were assigned to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
University officials highlighted that the book fair has consistently attracted a large number of visitors and publishers. During the previous three-day book fair held in February 2025, a record number of more than 175,000 books were sold, reflecting the growing interest in reading and academic resources among students and the general public.
The upcoming book fair is expected to host leading national and international publishers, offering a wide range of academic, literary, and general-interest books, and further reinforcing Punjab University’s role in promoting reading culture and knowledge dissemination in Pakistan.
