Lahore:
The bail of Additional Director of the National Coordination Centre for Internal Audits (NCCIA), Chaudhry Sarfraz, has been cancelled in a bribery case, while the bail of two other officers was granted, officials confirmed.
The case was heard by a FIA Central Court judge in Lahore. During the hearing, the court approved the bail of NCCIA Deputy Directors Zawar and Usman, who were represented by Advocate Farooq Bajwa. Additional Director Chaudhry Sarfraz, represented by Advocate Mian Ali Ashfaq, argued that FIA failed to produce concrete evidence against him.
The bribery case involves allegations of approximately PKR 9 million, though recoveries reportedly exceeded PKR 40 million. No direct complainant has yet appeared in the case.
The FIA had filed the case against the officers alleging acceptance of bribes, and the court’s decision leaves Chaudhry Sarfraz in custody pending further proceedings, while the other two officers have been temporarily released on bail.
