LAHORE: A remarkable display of interfaith harmony, peace, and brotherhood was witnessed at Nolakha Presbyterian Church, where a dignified ceremony was held to promote mutual respect and unity among followers of different religions.
The event was organised to celebrate Christmas as well as the birthday of Reverend Dr. Majid Abel, conveying a strong message of friendship, coexistence, and social cohesion.
Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, Maulana Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, attended the ceremony as a special guest. Religious leaders from various faiths, along with social figures and members of civil society, participated in large numbers. Prominent attendees included Javed William, Bhagat Lal, Maulana Asim Makhdoom, Khateeb Data Darbar Ramzan Sialvi, Mufti Ashiq Hussain, and other notable personalities.
During the ceremony, participants paid tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the Pakistan Army for their services in ensuring national security, peace, and stability.
Addressing the gathering, Reverend Dr. Majid Abel said the purpose of the event was not merely to exchange gifts, but to promote peace, respect, and love among communities. He described Pakistan as a beautiful bouquet of diverse religions and cultures, where followers of different faiths live together in harmony. He also offered special prayers for the country’s security, progress, and prosperity.
Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi emphasized that religious tolerance is the cornerstone of a peaceful and stable society. He said interfaith gatherings play a vital role in countering hatred and fostering unity, adding that all religions in Pakistan enjoy full freedom to practice their beliefs.
The ceremony concluded with participants cutting a cake together with Reverend Dr. Majid Abel, symbolizing unity and shared celebration.
