LAHORE: The 55th meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), chaired by Chairman Planning & Development Board Dr. Naeem Rauf, approved development schemes amounting to over Rs2.5 billion for the current fiscal year.
Key approved initiatives include:
Rehabilitation, widening, improvement, and construction of metalled roads in Cholistan, estimated at Rs2.5 billion.
Procurement of 34 emergency vehicles and creation of 323 human resource posts under 17 schemes approved by the Development & Delivery Support Cell (DDSC), reflected in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2025–26.
Establishment of the Punjab Tourism Force, including procurement of vehicles.
Upscaling of Date Palm Research Sub-Station, Jhang, and Papaya promotion through varietal improvement, management, and control of Papaya Leaf Curl Virus (2022–23 to 2025–26).
The meeting was attended by Secretary P&DB Rafaqat Ali, Chief Economist Masood Anwar, members of the P&D Board, and representatives from relevant government departments.
The PDWP highlighted that these projects aim to enhance regional infrastructure, strengthen emergency response capabilities, and promote agricultural research and tourism development across Punjab.
