LAHORE: The Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) has carried out successful, province-wide operations against drug dealers and smugglers over the past two weeks, recovering more than 85 kilograms of narcotics and arresting 27 suspects, officials said on Tuesday.
The operations were conducted in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif under the campaign “Drug-Free Punjab – Healthy and Safe Punjab.” Authorities said the crackdown reflects the government’s zero-tolerance approach toward narcotics trafficking.
According to official data, CNF registered 18 cases under the Punjab Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 2025 during the operations. The seized contraband included 48 kg of bhang, 20 kg of charas, 7 kg of weed, 4 kg of opium, 4 kg of heroin, and 2 kg of ice (crystal meth).
Commenting on the results, the Director General of the Punjab Counter Narcotics Force said the force was acting on clear directives from the chief minister to intensify intelligence-based and coordinated operations across the province.
“Protecting the younger generation from the menace of drugs is our top priority. Through sustained action, we are tightening the noose around drug traffickers operating in Punjab,” the DG CNF said.
He reiterated that the Punjab Counter Narcotics Force remains fully committed to eradicating narcotics from the province and that similar operations will continue with consistency and full force in the coming weeks.
