LAHORE: Punjab Secretary for Labour and Human Resource Danish Afzal on Tuesday paid his first official visit to the Punjab Social Security Head Office after assuming office, where he reviewed the institution’s performance and ongoing welfare initiatives for workers.
He was warmly received by Commissioner Punjab Social Security Zulfiqar Ali Kharl, who later briefed the secretary on completed, ongoing, and planned projects of the department.
During the briefing, officials outlined progress on the Maryam Nawaz Rashan Card distribution, construction of new social security hospitals, revamping of existing healthcare facilities, solarization of hospitals, and other reform initiatives. The secretary was also informed about recovery targets for social security and workers’ welfare contributions, as well as the registration process for new institutions.
Vice Commissioner Tauqeer Ilyas Cheema and other principal officers were also present during the visit.
Expressing satisfaction over the performance of Punjab Social Security, Secretary Labour Danish Afzal said the institution was playing a commendable role in safeguarding the rights and welfare of workers across the province. He directed officials to further accelerate the distribution of Maryam Nawaz Rashan Cards and ensure that all registered workers are covered without delay.
The secretary also instructed officers to complete all development and reform projects ahead of schedule, in line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, and emphasized the effective utilization of all available resources to improve workers’ welfare and well-being.
