Annual Digital Crime Report Released in Pakistan: 2,196 Major Cybercrime Cases Investigated

ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has released its annual report detailing the agency’s efforts to combat digital crime across Pakistan. Under the leadership of Director General Syed Khurram Ali, the agency demonstrated its full capacity to safeguard national security and protect the country from digital threats.
According to the report, 2,196 major cybercrime cases were successfully investigated, achieving a 36% case resolution rate. During the year, 2,902 arrests were made, and 774 successful prosecutions were conducted.
The agency also uncovered five major organized cybercrime networks operating locally and internationally, recovering assets worth over PKR 461 million from victims of cyber fraud and financial scams. A total of 46,056 fake bank accounts and digital assets were frozen.
Special operations targeting child exploitation online were carried out, resulting in 35 cases registered and 35 arrests. Advanced cyber intelligence platforms were deployed for threat assessment, while more than 300 law enforcement officers at federal and provincial levels received specialized training in cyber investigative skills.
As part of its national awareness campaign, the NCCIA set a target of reaching 2 million citizens, issuing over 30 public service advisories on emerging threats, including phishing, identity theft, and crypto-related scams.
The agency reiterated that its mandate is to ensure a safe and trustworthy digital environment for all citizens and businesses through cybercrime investigation, prosecution, and prevention.
