LAHORE: Punjab’s Provincial Minister for Sports and Energy, Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, has extended New Year greetings to the nation on the occasion of the New Year 2026, expressing hope for progress, prosperity, peace, and stability across Pakistan, particularly in Punjab.
In a statement, the minister said that under the leadership of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the provincial government is advancing a comprehensive agenda focused on public welfare, youth empowerment, and sustainable development.
He said that during the new year, concrete measures would be taken to strengthen and modernize sports at the grassroots level, providing healthy and constructive activities for young people. Improving sports infrastructure, launching talent-hunt programs, establishing sports academies, and providing international-standard facilities to athletes remain among the government’s top priorities, he added.
Emphasizing the social importance of sports, Khokhar said sporting activities play a vital role in guiding youth in a positive direction and protecting them from social evils.
Referring to the energy sector, the minister said the government would focus on transparency, capacity enhancement, and the provision of affordable and reliable electricity. He added that promotion of green energy initiatives, solarization, hybrid energy models, and alternative energy projects would continue to move Punjab towards energy self-reliance.
Solarization of government buildings, reduction of energy losses, and public relief remain key priorities, he said, assuring effective monitoring to ensure timely completion of ongoing and upcoming energy projects.
The minister expressed hope that 2026 would be a year of national unity, youth determination, and institutional strengthening, and prayed for Pakistan’s continued progress and success.
