LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has issued orders to further tighten security arrangements across the province, including Lahore, to ensure law and order on New Year’s Eve.
Punjab Police spokesperson said that over 25,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed for security duty across the province on New Year’s Eve. This includes 419 Inspectors, 1,267 Sub-Inspectors, 2,189 Assistant Sub-Inspectors, 1,408 Head Constables, and 16,977 Constables and other personnel.
In Lahore, over 5,000 police officers and personnel have been assigned for security duties. All activities across the province will be effectively monitored with the assistance of CCTV cameras.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed the police to remain on high alert and keep a close watch on anti-state and disruptive elements. He emphasized that one-wheeling, aerial firing, display of weapons, and disorderly conduct will not be tolerated under any circumstances on New Year’s Eve. IGP clarified that those engaging in disorderly behavior or harassing women and citizens will be immediately arrested and handed over to custody.
He also instructed that coordinated traffic arrangements be ensured on the occasion of New Year’s Eve. Dolphin Squad, Peru, Elite Force, and Punjab Highway Patrol teams will increase patrolling on roads and highways.
CCPO Lahore, RPOs, and DPOs have been directed to personally supervise all arrangements to maintain law and order. Additional personnel have been deployed across the province, including Lahore, to ensure smooth traffic flow.
IG Punjab appealed to citizens to immediately report any incidents of one-wheeling, weapon display, or firing in the air by calling Helpline 15.
