LAHORE — Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has said the provincial government’s flagship “Suthra Punjab” initiative is gaining attention not only across Pakistan but also internationally. She revealed that both Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) governments have expressed interest in adopting the model, with the KP Chief Secretary formally seeking details of the programme.
Azma Bokhari further noted that the Punjab government has provided guidance on the Suthra Punjab programme to Birmingham, UK, reflecting its growing recognition at the global level.
She highlighted other successful initiatives of the Punjab government, including the anti-encroachment drive, Model Village Programme, and Punjab Development Plan. She added that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has made it clear that Punjab is ready to extend full cooperation to any province seeking guidance or feasibility studies for successful projects.
“As the elder brother province, Punjab is committed to supporting public welfare initiatives in other regions,” she said, emphasizing the goal of providing quality facilities to the people of Sindh and KP, similar to those in Punjab.
Azma Bokhari underlined that the ultimate aim of the Suthra Punjab programme is to see all provinces become clean, well-managed and efficiently run. She urged provinces to learn from each other’s experiences rather than engaging in political bitterness, mutual blame, or abusive politics, emphasizing collective progress for the nation.
