NWJF Holds Quran Khwani for Isal-e-Sawab of Deceased Journalists and Family Members

LAHORE: The National Women Journalists Forum (NWJF) organised a Quran Khwani at the Lahore Press Club to offer Isal-e-Sawab for its departed council members and the deceased loved ones of its members.
Special prayers were offered for the forgiveness and elevation of ranks of senior journalist and columnist Shamaila Iqbal, senior news editor Imran Ahmed Sheikh, crime reporter Shahid Ali, and photographer Zulfiqar Ahmed. Prayers were also offered for the mothers of Najaf member and senior producer Khawla Arshad, Editor Daily Leader Khurram Pasha, senior reporter Khalid Rasheed and senior council member Allah Rakha Butt, as well as for the late brother of Shahid Iqbal.
The Quran Khwani was attended by NWJF President Farzana Chaudhry, Senior Vice President Kanwal Naseem, Vice President Mubashra Sultan, Azka Maqsood, General Secretary Darakhshinda Almdar, Information Secretary Nabeela Akbar, along with Zahida Parveen and Shaheen Rashid. Journalist Afshan Najam and Shakeela Atif, sisters-in-law of late Shamaila Iqbal, were also present.
Following the recitation of the Holy Quran, collective prayers were offered for the departed souls, seeking forgiveness, elevation of their ranks in the hereafter and patience for the bereaved families. Participants paid rich tribute to the professional services of the deceased journalists and expressed solidarity with their families during this time of grief. Cherished memories of late Shamaila Iqbal were also shared with her sisters-in-law.
After the prayer gathering, NWJF President Farzana Chaudhry, along with Najaf office-bearers Kanwal Naseem, Darakhshinda Almdar, Nabeela Akbar and Zahida Parveen, visited the residence of Thamar Imran, widow of late journalist Imran Ahmed Sheikh, to offer condolences and express solidarity with the bereaved family.
