PERA Force to Assist PRA in Recovery and Enforcement Operations

LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) will now receive support from the Punjab Enforcement & Regulatory Authority (PERA) Force in recovery and collection operations, officials said on Tuesday. PERA personnel will accompany PRA enforcement teams in cases of interference or resistance during field duties, ensuring smooth and effective operations.
The announcement followed a meeting between Moazzam Iqbal Sipra, Chairman of PRA, and Captain (R) Farrukh Atiq, Director General PERA. The discussion focused on PRA’s field operations and the legal framework governing PERA.
Chairman PRA Moazzam Iqbal Sipra said that, under the directives of Chief Minister Punjab, the scope of PRA’s field operations has been expanded. District-level offices have now been established in addition to divisional offices to facilitate taxpayers, which has contributed to record revenue collection during the first half of the current financial year.
He also highlighted ongoing IT reforms, including online tax payments and digital complaint registration mechanisms, aimed at improving efficiency and transparency.
Chairman PRA noted that since the establishment of the PERA Force, effective actions have been taken against illegal encroachments, hoarding, and profiteering, strengthening enforcement and regulatory oversight.
Director General PERA Captain (R) Farrukh Atiq appreciated the modern reforms and revenue collection model introduced by PRA. It was mutually agreed that the legal teams of PERA and PRA will work together to establish a coordinated legal framework to further enhance enforcement operations and compliance.
