LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar has said that the Khelta Punjab Pink Games will prove to be a historic milestone for the promotion of women’s sports in the province, as preparations have formally begun for what is set to be the largest women sports event in Punjab’s history.
Following the special directives of the provincial minister, an important preparatory meeting was held at the Sports Board Punjab under the chairmanship of Director General Sports Punjab Khizar Afzal Chaudhry. The meeting reviewed in detail the administrative arrangements and overall preparations for the Pink Games.
Addressing the participants, DG Sports Punjab Khizar Afzal Chaudhry said the Khelta Punjab Pink Games aim to provide equal opportunities to female athletes across Punjab. He announced that the games will be held in February, adding that administrative committees are being constituted to ensure the smooth, transparent and successful organization of the event.
He further said that thousands of women athletes from all divisions of Punjab are expected to participate, while trials for various sports will begin shortly. According to him, the event reflects the vision of Sports Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar and the women-friendly policies of Chief Minister Punjab, which are giving a new direction to the promotion of women’s sports in the province.
The meeting was attended by Director Administration Abid Shaukat, Director Sports Rana Nadeem Anjum, Deputy Directors Chand Parveen and Yasmin Akhtar, along with other officials and administrators of the Sports Board Punjab.
