LAHORE: The Qirat and Naat Society of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) organized a seminar at its City Campus to commemorate the birthday of Hazrat Ali (AS), aimed at exploring his life, teachings and enduring legacy, with a focus on his wisdom, leadership and values.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) presided over the seminar, while Chairman Education University Prof Dr Muhammad Shahbaz Manj attended as the guest of honour. Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Convener Qirat and Naat Society Dr Sarwar Siddique, along with a large number of students and faculty members, were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus highlighted various aspects of the life of Hazrat Ali (AS), including his courage, bravery, insight, knowledge and wisdom, as well as his military leadership and role as the fourth caliph of the Muslims. He spoke at length about Hazrat Ali’s deep love for the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), describing him as one of his closest companions who was always ready to sacrifice his life for him.
The vice-chancellor said that Hazrat Ali (AS) was among the first to believe in the message of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and noted that he was born in the Holy Kaaba, with the first face he saw after birth being that of the Prophet (PBUH). He added that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) named him Ali, while his mother named him Haider-e-Karar. Citing a hadith, Prof Dr Younus said the Prophet (PBUH) described Hazrat Ali as the leader of the pious and the Imam of the pious.
He said the purpose of the seminar was to acquaint young students with the virtues, sacrifices and services of Hazrat Ali (AS) for the uplift of Islam, enabling them to draw inspiration from his life and become exemplary members of society.
During the seminar, students recited verses from the Holy Quran, while Dr Muhammad Sarwar Siddique presented a Manqabat. A cake was also cut to mark the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Dr Muhammad Shahbaz Manj described the glory of Hazrat Ali (AS) and referred to verses by Allama Muhammad Iqbal from Asrar-e-Khudi, in which Iqbal eloquently highlighted the centrality of Hazrat Ali in faith and love for Ahl-e-Bait. He said that due to the bravery and courage of Hazrat Ali (AS), the Islamic nation attained great honour, adding that his personality remains a gateway to knowledge through which the world continues to gain enlightenment and progress.
