Lahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif visited Jamia Ashrafia Lahore to offer condolences on the passing of former Mohtamim-e-Aala (Principal) of the seminary, Maulana Fazlur Rahim Ashrafi.
During his visit, the Prime Minister expressed sympathy to the current Mohtamim-e-Aala, Maulana Qari Arshad Ubaid, over the demise of Maulana Fazlur Rahim Ashrafi. Deputy Mohtamim-e-Aala Hafiz Asad Ubaid, Deputy Mohtamim and son of the late Maulana Fazlur Rahim Ashrafi, Zubair Hassan, and Nazim-e-Aala Qari Maulana Owais Hassan were also present on the occasion.
The Prime Minister offered Fateha and prayed for the elevation of the deceased’s ranks in the hereafter.
Paying tribute to the late religious scholar, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Maulana Fazlur Rahim Ashrafi’s services to Islam would be remembered with respect and appreciation throughout the Muslim world for generations to come.
Recalling his personal association with the institution, the Prime Minister said that he regularly attended Friday prayers at Jamia Ashrafia Lahore for a long period along with his late father, Mian Muhammad Sharif.
He further remarked that Jamia Ashrafia has always played a vital role in promoting unity among the Muslim Ummah, a contribution that is highly commendable in every respect.
During the visit, Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Talha Barki were also present.
