Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting of the Federal Cabinet at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The cabinet was briefed by the Ministry of Finance on the new design of banknotes to be issued by the State Bank of Pakistan. The meeting was informed that the new currency notes are being designed in line with modern international standards, with the assistance of international experts. The Federal Cabinet decided to constitute a cabinet committee to further review and deliberate on the proposed designs.

The cabinet also considered a draft of the Private Hajj Policy 2027–2030, presented by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, concerning third-party registration and verification of private Hajj operator companies. In light of the views expressed by cabinet members, the draft policy was referred to the Hajj Policy Committee for further consideration.
The Federal Cabinet approved the decisions taken in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Energy held on December 24, 2025.
The cabinet also ratified the decisions taken in the meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) held on December 23, 2025.
