Islamabad: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has taken a significant step to facilitate Pakistani exporters by signing a Cargo Special Pro-Rate Agreement with Indonesia’s national carrier, Garuda Indonesia, aimed at improving access to global markets.
Under the agreement, which will come into effect from January 2026 and remain valid until July 2027, Pakistani exporters will benefit from uninterrupted and streamlined cargo connectivity to international destinations.
According to officials, Pakistani export cargo will be transported via Jeddah and Kuala Lumpur to Jakarta and other global cities. The agreement also provides cargo access to key destinations including Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Bangkok.
The partnership is expected to significantly improve access for Pakistani products to major markets such as Shanghai, Guangzhou, Seoul, and Australia, enhancing trade connectivity across Asia-Pacific regions.
The agreement offers competitive freight rates and priority cargo handling for exporters and freight forwarding agents, ensuring faster and more cost-effective transportation.
Officials said the initiative aims to boost Pakistan’s exports while expanding and simplifying the country’s air cargo business through enhanced international cooperation
