Shab-e-Meraj of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) will be observed across Pakistan today, Friday, January 16, with deep religious reverence, devotion and spiritual fervour.
According to religious and community representatives, special gatherings to commemorate the miraculous night journey (Meraj) of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) will be held in Karachi, Lahore and other cities across the country. Scholars and religious leaders will highlight the events, significance and virtues of Meraj Sharif during these gatherings.
Mosques across major cities have been decorated with electric lights, while arrangements have been made for Mehfil-e-Zikr, Naat recitals, Qasida Burda, Qasida-e-Merajia, recitation of Durood Sharif, Salat-ul-Tasbeeh, Nawafil prayers, special supplications and Sehri. Women are also observing the night with special prayers and Nawafil at their homes.
A central congregation will be held after Isha prayers at Jamia Masjid Memon Muslehuddin Garden (Khori Garden), where renowned religious scholar Allama Syed Shah Abdul Haq Qadri will address the gathering.
Leaders of Jamaat-e-Ahle Sunnat, including Syed Rafiq Shah, Allama Syed Abdul Qadir Shirazi and Dr Abdul Wahab Qadri, have appealed to the Inspector General of Sindh to ensure enhanced security at mosques, seminaries, shrines, khanqahs and other venues hosting Shab-e-Meraj gatherings.
They have also urged municipal authorities to ensure cleanliness and adequate lighting arrangements around mosques and religious venues to facilitate worshippers during the night.
