Malaysia and Türkiye Seek to Strengthen Bilateral Ties and Explore Cooperation with Pakistan

Islamabad:
The High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, Ambassador Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, received a courtesy call from His Excellency Dr. Irfan Neziroğlu, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye, at the Malaysian High Commission in Islamabad.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both diplomats to exchange views on Malaysia–Türkiye relations, with a focus on expanding economic cooperation and identifying new areas for closer engagement. Both sides highlighted the importance of enhancing trade and investment links in light of evolving regional and global economic developments.
Discussions also explored trilateral cooperation involving Malaysia, Türkiye, and Pakistan, particularly in capacity-building initiatives and development assistance. The ambassadors exchanged views on potential collaboration between the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), including sharing expertise and best practices for programmes in Pakistan.
Additionally, the two sides discussed efforts to revive the trilateral television channel initiative between Malaysia, Türkiye, and Pakistan, aiming to promote balanced narratives and counter Islamophobia through media cooperation and strategic communication.
The meeting further included exchanges on regional security, with both ambassadors emphasizing the importance of stability, dialogue, and cooperation in addressing shared challenges.
The courtesy call underscored the warm and friendly relations between Malaysia and Türkiye, as well as both countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and exploring practical avenues for collaboration with Pakistan.
