Dhaka — The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced it will maintain its decision not to send its national team to India for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.
According to a statement from the Bangladesh Cricket Board, during a meeting with the ICC delegation, Bangladesh reiterated its formal request to have its matches relocated to an alternative venue.
The BCB made clear that it will not send its national team to India under current circumstances and has demanded that the ICC arrange for all of Bangladesh’s matches to be held in another country.
This decision comes against the backdrop of strained relations between the two nations. Bangladesh’s position is that it will prioritize the safety and security of its team until conditions improve.
The ICC delegation held detailed discussions with Bangladeshi officials, and the global cricket governing body must now decide whether Bangladesh’s matches can be transferred to an alternative venue.
The stance puts the ICC in a challenging position as it seeks to maintain the integrity of the tournament schedule while addressing legitimate security concerns raised by a participating nation.
