Following similar measures in Germany and Iran, Turkish authorities have further tightened their crackdown on illegal Afghan migrants. Afghanistan International reported that 14 Afghan nationals were arrested in the city of Şanlıurfa for entering and traveling within the country illegally.
The report said the migrants were hiding inside a truck during the journey. Three facilitators involved in the illegal transportation were also detained and transferred to prison.
According to Turkish authorities, all arrested migrants have been moved to a deportation center, where legal procedures are under way ahead of their expected repatriation.
