Islamabad: Newly appointed Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai has called for strengthening parliament as the true center of power, while also signaling conditional support for the government on matters of national importance.
Addressing the National Assembly for the first time as Leader of the Opposition, Achakzai said that the opposition wants the parliament to function as the main source of authority in the country. He stressed that key decisions on internal security, foreign policy, and economic strategy should be formulated within the House.
“We want to make this House the real fountain of power. Let us decide internal, external, and economic policies here,” he said.
Achakzai added that the opposition is willing to support the government’s positive initiatives. “For good decisions, you may count our votes along with yours,” he told the House, indicating cooperation on constructive legislation.
