Dera Ismail Khan: The attacker in the Dera Ismail Khan suicide bombing has been identified.
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has registered a case regarding the suicide attack in DI Khan, which includes terrorism and other sections. According to the case text, a suicide bombing occurred in the guests’ room during a wedding ceremony last night, killing six people.
According to the FIR, the suicide attacker Abdul Rehman was raised in an Afghan refugee camp and received his primary education at informal centers and a madrasa. The investigative team has collected DNA samples and forensic evidence from the crime scene.
According to the CTD report, the attacker fell victim to extremist propaganda at a young age and carried out a suicide bombing at the house of Amn Committee head Noor Alam Mehsud yesterday.
The attack highlights ongoing security challenges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly regarding radicalization in refugee camps and informal educational settings. Authorities are investigating whether the attacker had connections to organized terrorist networks or acted as a lone operative influenced by extremist ideology.
Security officials have intensified surveillance in the region following the incident, with particular focus on monitoring activities in refugee settlements and unregulated religious institutions. The incident has renewed debate about the balance between providing humanitarian refuge and maintaining national security.
