LAHORE: The Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) has intensified its crackdown against drug dealers and smugglers across the province, achieving significant success in intelligence-based operations conducted in Lahore and Gujranwala over the past two days.
According to CNF officials, approximately 16 kilograms of narcotics were recovered during the operations. The seized drugs included 8 kilograms of heroin, 6 kilograms of charas, 1 kilogram of ice (crystal meth), 740 grams of opium, and 80 ecstasy (party) pills. Authorities said the timely actions of CNF teams effectively thwarted attempts to smuggle and distribute narcotics in the targeted areas.
As a result of the operations, five suspected drug traffickers were arrested, including two Afghan nationals. Cases have been registered against the arrested individuals under the Punjab Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 2025, and further legal proceedings are currently underway.
Reaffirming its commitment to eradicating narcotics from society, the Punjab Counter Narcotics Force stated that the operations are being carried out in line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, titled “Drug-Free Punjab – Healthy and Secure Punjab.” CNF emphasized that the campaign against drugs will continue with full force to protect the health, safety, and future of the people of Punjab, particularly the youth.
